Education/Experience: Four year degree (or comparable work experience) in community development, social work, international studies, communications, or a related field is preferable.
Compensation: Housing stipend. Monthly salary commensurate with experience. International health insurance plan.

Sseko Designs is an LLC based in the United States that produces uniquely designed sandals in Kampala, Uganda. As a Not-Just-For-Profit business, Sseko Designs operates under a double-bottom line standard in which it values the social impact as much as the financial returns. Young women from disadvantaged backgrounds with great potential are employed in order to earn money to continue on to university. The goal of Sseko Designs is to create and maintain a sustainable, profitable company as a means to provide dignified, fair-wage employment, as well as financial and entrepreneurial and life-skills training to young women in Uganda. Job Description:
Sseko Designs is currently looking for a Programs Director to assist in the oversight of our social programs and impact in Uganda through external communications and programs development. “Programs” refers to Sseko activities/classes/seminars/efforts that take place outside of work and are not directly related to production.
- Programs development:
- Develop a comprehensive personal and professional development program for our employees. The focus of these programs will include:
- Personal finance training
- Health and wellness
- Computer training
- English training
- Continuing education

- Measurement and Impact:
- Develop measurement tools for tracking goals and progress for our programs.
- Evaluate effectiveness of programs and use this information to further development programs plan.
- External Communications:
- Gathering and creating communication content for our international constituency. This includes written, video and photo content to update our blog, Twitter and Facebook accounts.
- This position will be responsible for bi-weekly blog updates, 3 Facebook updates a week and at least one Tweet a day.

The position will report directly to the Director of Operations who is based in Kampala. There will also be frequent communication with USA-based Sseko leadership.
Requirements:
The position requires an ambitious, college-educated individual passionate about creating positive social change through sustainable social enterprise. The individual should be entrepreneurial by nature and driven to build scalable, financially feasible and effective programs. This person must be able to communicate in a way that is effective, compelling and consistent with the Sseko voice and brand.
